NCSF Alumni Association
Home
This alumni association developed as an off-shoot of the Northern California Scholarship Foundation (NCSF). The original scholarship foundation was started in 1927 by the gentleman and scholar, Walter B. Scaife, whose personal generosity assisted young college men in achieving their scholastic pursuits. Dr. Scaife began with his own foundation, to which many loyal and prosperous alumni have added their contributions. The alumni association itself also sponsors and oversees scholarship funds for fifth-year undergraduate and graduate study. In addition to funding scholarships, the alumni also serve as advisors to students who receive the scholarships and participate on the team of interviewers who select the scholarship recipients each year. Only alumni of one of the scholarship foundations are eligible for alumni awards. Candidates at-large are not eligible. Any such inquiries will go unacknowledged.

Interviews
2004 Interviews On Saturday, May 22, 2004, alumni and trustees of the scholarship foundations met at the Scottish Rite Temple to interview candidates for this year’s undergraduate scholarship awards in the amount of $5,000 per year of study. After a full morning of interviews, there was a luncheon for students, parents, and interviewers, followed by the introduction of the foundation and alumni officers and trustees. After the luncheon, the remaining alumni in attendance met to discuss the alumni scholarship awards. Those attending were: Michele Musson Clifton (executive vice president/director), Bob Crow (alumni aid committee), Wesley Huber (assistant treasurer), Ben Pickering, Greg Streeter (treasurer), Byron Toma (alumni aid officer/director). This year, we approved the award of 2004-2005 scholarship funds as follows: $24,000 from Alumni contributions to 6 fifth-year undergraduates (varying amounts) $2,500 from Alumni contributions to 1 graduate students (varying amounts) $80,000 from the Benjamin Trust to 16 graduate students ($5,000 each) Greg presented the financial report, detailing 2003 contributions, the investment portfolio, and income statement. We discussed using dividends to fund the eventual first alumni scholarship. We also discussed changing the name of the corporation from Scaife Scholarship Alumni Association to something more in keeping with the current name of the foundation.
